Architecture and Design

Effectively leveraging large amounts of digital content that fuels a company's/organization’s success becomes increasingly difficult as the amount of content to manage grows annually. In the absence of a viable Information Architecture, a company/organization and its customers struggle with finding the information they need when they need it. The underlying problem typically is that content is not classified or described in a way that makes it accessible by company's/organization’s employees or automated systems.

Additionally, this content is stored on shared drives or on desktops without effective access control. This same content is usually produced or assembled from external sources in an ad-hoc manner, relying on processes that use outdated desktop oriented technologies and manual activities. Even in cases where a robust Information Architecture system does exist, companies/organizations can struggle mightily with seemingly insurmountable volumes of content that are manually classified, placing a strain and additional workload on your personnel.

Information Architecture is a specialized skill set that interprets information and expresses distinctions between signs and systems of signs. More concretely, it involves the categorization of information into a coherent structure, preferably one that the intended audience can understand quickly, if not inherently, and then easily retrieve the information for which they are searching for.
